About Me
Background and experience in landscape architecture and garden design:
I am a chartered member of the Landscape Institute and the RHS, and a pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers. I am fully insured for professional indemnity and public liability.
I have practiced as a Landscape Architect for over 20 years and, after a break from design, I recently refreshed my garden design skills, graduating from a Postgraduate Diploma in Garden Design with a Distinction.
My landscape projects (including design, specification and contract management) have covered private gardens, public spaces, forest parks, school grounds, roadside planting, cemeteries and business parks in the north east of England. My studies have included environmental biology, landscape architecture and garden design. I keep abreast of current trends through courses, reading, visiting gardens and gardening, and membership of related organisations. I also carry out voluntary work on community schemes.
Inspiration:
From childhood I have loved the natural world. Growing up, I always had my own patch of garden to experiment with and at an early age enjoyed sketching wildflowers with my mother in East Anglia. My hobbies are mostly botanical and creative, and all images on this website are my own, unless indicated otherwise.
I draw inspiration from natural landscapes, architecture, art and life at the microscopic level. My inspiration in garden and landscape design are Sarah Price, Dan Pearson, Jinny Blom, Piet Oudolf and Arthur Parkinson. Historical inspiration comes from Roberto Burle Marx, Thomas Church and Geoffrey Jellicoe.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss any landscape design or garden project.
